Five Reasons Why You Should Have an Adventure Engagement Session
So you just got engaged, and you’ve picked a photographer! Yay, how exciting! That’s a big thing you can check off your to-do list. In between all the excitement and planning you’re about to dive into, they’ve probably told you to start thinking about an engagement session! You might be thinking, why is an engagement session so important if my elopement/wedding day are the photos I’m most excited about anyway? Well, think of this as an opportunity for an ADVENTURE!
Whether you’re planning on eloping somewhere epic just the two of you, or having a larger gathering with your best friends and family somewhere close to home, your engagement session is a great way to capture your love before you tie the knot.
Here are some reasons you should have an adventurous engagement session!
It’s an excuse for a weekend trip or getaway!
Let’s pick somewhere you’ve always wanted to check out, or somewhere near and dear to your heart. But lean into it being a trip! Book a nice place to stay and make some pit stops at some cool restaurants. I’ll meet up with you for your adventurous session somewhere in between relaxing at a coffee shop, or a night on the town! By the end of the weekend, you’ll have forgotten you guys originally travelled for an engagement session!
2. It’s the only time you’ll get to call each other ‘fiancé’ so why not capture it in the most amazing way? Plus, get portraits in non wedding attire!
Your wedding portraits will be cherished forever, but having professional portraits of the two of you in more casual clothing gives you extra images that you can use in so many different ways.
3. It’s a great way to get adventurous photos, if you’re having a more traditional wedding!
Maybe you decided to go the route of a traditional wedding celebration, but your heart yearns for some epic mountain views with your boo. Book an adventurous engagement session and let’s go hiking! You’ll be so thankful you decided to still make time for a little adventure with just the two of you! Planning a larger wedding can be stressful, so this is a great way to get the intimacy that an elopement might offer! Many of my couples find themselves wanting to have an adventure session, even though they decided they wanted more of a wedding. You can do both!
4. Get comfortable being on camera, and make it FUN!
Maybe you have never gotten photos taken, or you stiffen up when you’re in front of one. That's okay! Honestly, alot of people do. Adventure engagement sessions take the pressure of looking perfect away, and put the focus on the amazing activity you’re doing! Take this time to get used to being photographed- You'll be amazed at how comfortable and natural you can feel! Having an engagement session gives you a chance to develop that comfort BEFORE your wedding day. Plus, you’ll get some rad photos having fun with your partner.
5. It’s an opportunity to try something new, or check something off your bucket list!
Maybe you’ve always wanted to go zip lining above a forest, or skiing in the mountains. Getting married is the start of a whole new chapter in your relationship with your partner. Use this time to reflect on things you guys really want to do together! You have so many adventures that lie ahead, why not start by planning an amazing one with your engagement session! Make your engagement session an epic day to remember with the person you love most.
So what do you think? Would you consider spicing up your engagement session with a little adventure?
