5 Ceremony Ideas to Make Your Wedding Day Special
When it comes to choosing what to include in your wedding day, I always urge couples to feel free to include or discard as many traditions as they see fit. There’s always the common wedding ceremonies and popular things to include on your wedding day, but if you don’t really vibe with any of those, here are some unique ideas for how to make your wedding day special.
Tree Planting
This one’s a great one for couples who love plants, or are nature lovers. Often, couples will choose to have soil from their hometowns, their families homes, or soil from a place that is special to both of them. Tree planting symbolizes growth, a long life together, and joining their two families and lives together forever. Trees live lifetimes, so it also symbolizes spending lifetimes together!
2. Ring Warming
Ring warming is a great way to get your guests, family and friends involved. Some couples will choose to have the rings passed around and will ask the guests to send love, warmth and positivity to the couple while holding the rings. Great option for a couple that is into spirituality and want well wishes!
3. Signature Drinks
Having a signature drink for you and your partner is a memorable and fun way for guests to enjoy small details together. Many couples come up with kitchy and creative names and even choose to have an ode to their pets back home! You can also choose to have a champagne toast where everyone joins you in one special moment. Similar to the other ceremonies, it’s a way for guests to all join you in celebrating at the same time.
A unique, but fun twist on a signature drink is having all of your guests join you in taking a shot of your choice of alcohol. If drinking is something you and your partner like to do, its only fitting you’d include it in your wedding day! I’ve seen couples take ceremonial shots of special liquors, or maybe their family or friend group has a traditional shot they like to have. Although this can be a very niche thing to do, I’ve seen it done at many Midwestern weddings!
4. A Moment of Closeness
If your goal is just to feel present and at peace on your wedding day, taking a moment with all of your bridal party to feel close, however that looks for you, will give you that. Laughing together, a. ceremonial moment, or even a prayer if that’s your jam. Whatever you choose, make it something that brings you closer to your guests and your partner.
5. Unity Sand Ceremony
Unity Sand Ceremonies are similar to tree planting, and symbolize similar things. Both couples take sand from a location that is special to them or represents them, in poor them together in the vase, to form one vessel of sand. The act represents the joining of two individuals and the creation of a new union and family.
Bonus: an Espresso Bar
If none of those ceremonies are your piece of cake, why not get creative with different ideas! For example, a nice party favor and ceremony could be to have an espresso machine or coffee bar from a local coffee vendor at your wedding. Instead of having a signature drink, guests can fuel up and enjoy specialty latte art and cozy drinks. Great for winter or cold weather weddings!
